Part 3 will show you how to create a login screen to password protect the data and forms within your app.
Now that we have username and password fields as credentials to log in, go to the Authentications object.
From the list of objects in the left-hand panel of Caspio’s app interface, click Authentications.
To go through the wizard, click the New Authentication link on top.
Next, click the Authentication data source dropdown to gain access to all six of your tables. Select Users to incorporate your username and password fields.
For your Setup options, you have two choices:
For this tutorial, select the Express radio button to use your username and password fields.
If you opted to use email as your credential and made it a unique field, you’ll see email as part of the dropdown menu for the Username field.
You can also expand the Advanced Settings below and see how each option can enhance your app.
For now: hit Create, name your authentication Users Login, then click Finish.
Keep in mind that in Caspio, you can build sophisticated user-level management systems to have different permissions with different privileges.
For instance: If an employee logs in, you can limit them to have read-only rights. Conversely, if an admin logs in, you can allow them to read and edit all the data.
In the next video, we’ll teach you how to build forms and reports.
