Houston Community College Selects Caspio Enterprise for Cloud Apps

College rolls out Caspio’s cloud platform across six campuses to automate class schedules, online registrations, and mobile apps.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, October 13, 2010 — Caspio, Inc. (caspio.com), the leading online database platform, today announced an enterprise agreement with Houston Community College, the nation’s fourth-largest community college with six campuses across Texas. Caspio’s wizard-driven application creation eliminates programming, enabling HCC to create web-based solutions much more inexpensively and drastically faster than traditional development methods.

HCC began using Caspio to publish massive class schedules in a user-friendly searchable web interface. Initially launching the application on a limited budget in just a just a few short weeks, the college saw an immediate boost in website traffic and registration revenues. HCC has since rolled out a variety of applications for its 70,000 students and 4,400 faculty to easily access information and services online, including course registration, meeting requests and mobile student directories.

Caspio’s unique step-by-step wizards make it easy for non-technical educators to create searchable databases and customized web applications that instantly deploy to any website in just a few clicks.

“With Caspio, we can publish information online in a way that makes it easy for both students and faculty to use,” said Joe Conway, Director of Print and E-Media at HCC. “As a public college, we have a lot of responsibility on a tight budget, and Caspio simply helps us do more for less.”

“Educational institutions are truly the incubators for innovation, and the enterprise agreement with the HCC demonstrates how colleges and universities can leverage Caspio’s cloud computing platform for cutting-edge advances in the industry,” said David A. Milliron, Vice President of Education Services at Caspio. “We are excited to be a part of HCC’s efforts as it shapes the future of cloud technology adoption in higher education.”

Caspio pioneered the cloud computing industry in 2000 and currently powers over 400,000 web applications for Fortune 500 companies, university and K-12 educational institutions, government agencies, and over 80 percent of the largest newspaper websites in North America.
